Friends and collectors ask how to commission their very own, personal painting that speaks to their own lives and the story they have to tell. Well, it's easy. I'm always looking for more stories to illustrate in my paintings and all you have to do is come up with the idea and contact me to discuss the specifics.
These are two examples of my Pet Portraits. Being a "best friend" to my own pup Jackson, I have long known the significance pets have in our lives. Because of their stature in the family, I try to paint them in the English tradition where they are very large in the landscape, denoting their "larger-than-life" importance to us.
What I want to know is the story you'd like me to paint and the budget you are comfortable with. The budget is important because it can determine the size of the finished work and how much detail we can include in the painting. Although I've tried not to let friends worry much about the budget, by offering 3-6 month payment plans. What's really important, when it comes to your commission, is the story. Budgets are always flexible, as commissions start at $600 for a smaller story painting and can grow to very large paintings that really make a statement in the Home. Deadlines are also important. Sometimes I can quickly finish a commission, while others may have to get in line and wait several months. It's best to provide as much lead time as possible.
